John R. Horne served as chairman of Navistar International Corporation, a publicly traded truck and diesel engine manufacturer, from April 1996 thru February 2004, as Navistar’s president and chief executive officer from March 1995 to February 2003, and as president and chief operating officer from November 1990 to March 1995.
Mr. Horne began his career as an engineer at Caterpillar in 1960, and joined International Harvester (which became Navistar in 1985) in October, 1966.
Mr. Horne continues to serve on the board of directors of Corrections Corporation of America, and Junior Achievement of Chicago. He also served on the board of directors of Intermet Corporation as it went thru successful bankruptcy reorganization from September 2004 to October 2005.
Mr. Horne is a graduate of Purdue University (BSME), and Bradley University (MSME). He has received an honorary doctorate degree from Purdue University, and distinguished graduate awards from both Purdue and Bradley universities.
