M. Catherine (Cathy) Jaros is Managing Director for Amherst Partners, LLC, a mid market investment banking and consulting firm, with primary offices in Birmingham, MI www.amherstpartners.com).  She heads the Chicago Amherst office.  Jaros focuses on consumer focused industries, providing M&A transaction and corporate strategic planning services, surrounding buy or sell side transactions.  Clients include consumer food and package goods companies, technology, manufacturing, health car, and international private equity firms. She works with Fortune 500, mid market, and early to mid stage companies. Amherst is a member of IMAP, the International Network of Mergers and Acquisition Professionals (www.imap.com).  Jaros chairs IMAP’s global Food and Beverage Industry Group, providing international access for clients. 


Formerly, Jaros was Managing Director for DSI Investment Banking Services, Inc. where she provided similar services.  She is the former Chief Executive Officer/President of several early stage consumer-focused technology companies.  She served five years as Vice President of corporate marketing and development for Tribune Company.  Prior to joining the Tribune, Jaros spent nineteen years in the food business where she served as senior strategy and acquisition positions at Kraft, was Vice President, business development and director of the Chicago office for Tappan Capital Partners, the consumer products investment arm of First Chicago Venture Capital, now Madison Dearborn Partners.  Between 1973 and 1988, Jaros served in a variety of senior and officer level positions in marketing, general management, venture, and corporate development at The Quaker Oats Company, now part of Pepsi.


Jaros graduated from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management with a Master of Business Administration degree in marketing and finance.   She graduated with honors from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in retailing.  Jaros is a member of the Kellogg Alumni Advisory Board and the 1994 recipient of the Kellogg School’s Schaffner Award, given for alumni leadership.  Jaros served as Trustee for Northwestern University and was the President of the Northwestern Alumni Association.  She serves on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Chicago and the Cancer Wellness Center.  She and her husband have one child and reside in the Chicago area.
