Jim Lamanna started his career with Amoco in1975 at the Yorktown Virginia Refinery. He spent 20 of 28 years on the Refining side of the business. Four of those years were spent handling the Refined Products Supply for Amoco’s southeastern United States operations.
Jim also ran Amoco’s equivalent of Group Environmental Management for 3 years where he experienced the remediation side of the business and worked with Upstream, Retail, Chemicals and Refining.
Much of his early career was spent at the Whiting Refinery in Indiana where he held operations and technical positions, which lead to a variety of management positions later his career
In 1997, Jim led the Salt Lake City Business Unit which had both refining and retail outlets.
By 1998, Jim was given increased responsibility when BP integrated Nerefco in Rotterdam, Coryton outside of London and Grangemouth in Scotland into a single business.
Upon his return to the United States in 2003, Jim became the Business Unit Leader for BP Pipelines where he managed the second largest liquids pipeline company in the U.S., transporting more than 450 million barrel-miles of oil, refined products, natural gas liquids, carbon dioxide and chemicals daily.
In 2006, BP Pipelines (North America) Inc. and US Logistics merged to create US Pipelines and Logistics. As Business Unit Leader, Jim is responsible for one of BP’s largest mid-stream business units in North America with more than 2200 employees.
